WEIGHT LOSS PILLS THAT ACTUALLY WORK IN 2024

Finding weight loss pills that actually work can be difficult. In a world where social media bombards us with images of perfect  bodies and promises of quick fixes, it’s easy to be fascinated by weight loss pills. With all the social media , the promise of a quick  way to shed those extra pounds is everywhere.

Always take what you see and read online with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to health. Whether you’re overweight or just looking to get in shape, it’s crucial to understand the real impact of weight loss pills before you take them.

The Truth Behind Weight Loss Pills

You’ve likely seen the flashy advertisements and testimonials claiming miraculous results from weight loss pills. But before you reach for that bottle, let’s explore what science says about their effectiveness and safety.

Are FDA-Approved Medications Weight Loss Pills That Actually Work?

FDA-approved weight loss medications can help some people lose weight when combined with lifestyle changes like diet and exercise. On average, people who take prescription medications as part of a lifestyle program can lose 3–12% more of their body weight after one year than those who don’t take medication.

FDA-approved medications have been available to the public for decades. The first weight loss  drug to get FDA approval was introduced in the 1950s. Since then, many other weight loss drugs have been developed and approved by the FDA for the treatment of obesity and weight management. They seem to work for the most part, because they’ve been through rigorous clinical trials to prove their safety and effectiveness before  earning FDA approval.

Are All Weight Loss Pills the Same?

One common myth surrounding weight loss pills is that they’re all created equal. The truth is there are many types of weight loss pills, each with its unique way of working and potential side effects. Some act as appetite suppressants, while others target addiction to sugar or alter hunger hormones in the gut and brain.

According to top doctors it’s crucial to talk to a health care professional before starting any weight loss pill regimen. They can help you understand the risks and benefits associated with different options and recommend the most appropriate approach based on your unique needs and medical history.

Below are the different types of weight loss pills and into what category they fall under:

Appetite suppressants: These pills work by making you feel less hungry by decreasing feelings of hunger, which makes it easier to eat fewer calories. They’re ideal for people who struggle with overeating or snacking between meals.

Fat absorption inhibitors: These pills prevent the absorption of fat in the digestive tract, leading to fewer calories absorbed by the body. They’re most effective for people who consume a high-fat diet, but they can cause gastrointestinal side effects like oily stools.

Metabolism boosters: These pills up the body’s metabolic rate, helping to burn more calories throughout the day. They’re helpful for people with a sluggish metabolism, but they can cause jitteriness or increased heart rate in some people.

Carb blockers: Carb blockers prevent the digestion of carbohydrates, preventing the body from absorbing them as calories. They’re useful for people who consume a high-carbohydrate diet, but they can cause gastrointestinal discomfort or bloating.

Thermogenics: These pills raise the body’s core temperature, which burns more calories for energy. They’re effective for those who want to boost their metabolism and energy levels, but they can cause insomnia or nervousness in some people.

Are Weight Loss Pills The Magic Bullet For Instant Weight Loss?

Thanks to rampant misinformation online, many people think weight loss pills work like magic, melting away fat without any effort. According to a top doctor, that’s a common misconception. Weight loss pills aren’t a standalone solution. They’re tools to assist in weight loss, but success requires commitment and lifestyle changes. While weight loss pills can provide a helpful boost, you still need healthy lifestyle changes for long-term success. Diet and exercise are of extreme importance. Weight loss pills alone won’t be enough. They should complement a healthy diet and regular physical activity.

Are They Even Weight Loss Pills That Actually Work Out There?

Some weight loss pills have been clinically proven to aid in weight loss when combined with a healthy diet and exercise regimen. One example is orlistat, a weight loss medication that reduces the absorption of dietary fats. Studies have shown that orlistat can lead to modest weight loss when used as directed. While medications like orlistat are effective for some individuals, they’re not suitable for everyone. It’s essential to consider factors such as potential side effects, contraindications, and long-term sustainability.

Partner With Your Doctor to Make Informed Decisions

When you want to lose weight, it’s tempting to look for solutions that promise quick results. A safe rule of thumb is that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

The Bottom Line

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to weight loss. True and lasting weight loss comes from adopting healthy habits that you can maintain for a lifetime. Before considering weight loss pills, consult with a healthcare professional to determine the best course of action for your unique needs. Don’t start taking any new medication without first talking to your doctor.

CAN YOU ORDER MEDICATIONS DIRECTLY FROM CANADA, AUSTRALIA, THE U.K, AND OTHER COUNTRIES?

In most circumstances, it’s illegal for people who live in the U.S. to buy medications from other countries if the drugs are not approved by the FDA, the U.S. federal agency that oversees drug safety.

Please note that only medications that can be legally prescribed in the United States may be imported for personal use,” according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “Be aware that possession of certain substances may also violate state laws. As a general rule, the FDA does not allow the importation of prescription drugs that were purchased outside the United States.” The FDA says this is because it can’t guarantee that the drugs are safe, legitimate and effective.

All medications sold in the U.S. have to meet the agency’s standards. Other countries, like Canada, also require medications to get approval by their version of the FDA before becoming available to the public. This also applies to pet medication. However, the FDA notes that there are instances when someone might be given the OK to import medication from another country into the U.S. for personal use:

  •  If the medication isn’t to treat a serious condition and has no known significant health risk, such as over the counter medications.
  •  If the medication is to treat a serious condition and there are no effective treatments available in the U.S. (either commercially or clinically).
  • The medication in question isn’t sold or promoted in the U.S. and the drug “doesn’t present an unreasonable risk.
  • However, you must provide in writing that the medication is for personal use, and either provide the name and address of the doctor treating you with the medication in the U.S. or provide “evidence” that the medication is to continue treatment begun in another country.
  •  If the medication is to treat a serious condition in your pet, get a letter from the licensed veterinarian treating the animal. Again, remember that importing medications from other countries into the U.S. is illegal and exceptions would be on a case-by-case basis.
  • Speak with your doctor and contact the FDA and U.S. Customs if you have questions.

The FDA offers guidelines for importing drugs and medical devices for personal use. Information about circumstances in which this might be permitted is given below:

  • The imported product is over-the-counter (OTC) and not intended to treat any serious conditions
  • Or it is prescribed drug products and intended to treat serious conditions:
  • The product is intended to treat a serious condition for which there may not be a commercially or clinically available effective treatment in the country.
  • As far as we know, the product is not being promoted or commercialized to Americans.
  • The product doesn’t come with an excessive risk.
  • The product is intended for personal use, as the customer certifies in writing.
  • Usually, the amount is limited to a maximum of three months and either:
(a). Give the name and contact information of the American medical professional who is treating you with the product,(b). Or present proof that the product is being used to continue a treatment that was started abroad.

Things To Look For When Buying Prescription Drugs From an Online Pharmacy ( Australia)

(1). Check The Web Address

A trusted Australian online pharmacy will typically have a web address that ends in .com.au.

(2). Request A Prescription

A trusted online pharmacy will ask for a prescription from a doctor or health professional before sending medicine.

(3). Check Accreditation

A trusted online pharmacy will have accreditation from the Quality Care Pharmacy Program or registration with a state Pharmacy Council.

(4). Contact A Pharmacist

A trusted online pharmacy will have a phone number for a pharmacist to be reached during business hours.

(5). Do The Prices Of Each Medicine Differ?

A trusted online pharmacy will offer different prices for each medicine, depending on the type of prescription and benefits under the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Some other things to consider when buying medicine online include:

  • Websites that send prescription medicine without a doctor’s prescription are breaking the law and should not be trusted.

Will Customs Seize The Prescription Drugs I Order Overseas?

There is very little likelihood that medication ordered for personal use from overseas will be confiscated at the border. Less than 1% of medication orders are really stopped by the FDA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, even though the law permits them to hold and reject foreign prescription orders that arrive through the mail—at least for orders that require a prescription and are for less than a 90-day supply. foreign pharmacies recognized by the Pharmacy Checker Verification Program are not allowed to sell prescription drugs without first obtaining a valid prescription. You will be informed if your medication is delayed at an international mail facility! By law, the FDA must notify you in writing if your medication order has been denied or detained.

THE 7 BEST WEIGHT LOSS PILLS THAT ACTUALLY WORK IN 2024

1. Adipex,Lomaira, – Phentermine Weight Loss Pills, Duromine,Metermine

Phentermine is the most commonly prescribed weight-loss medication used in the United States, and for good reason. Phentermine is one of the top weight loss pills on the market today, and is clinically proven to help suppress your appetite and make you feel fuller for longer. Phentermine is an amphetamine-like stimulant drug that can affect your heart. As such, it’s generally used for the short term (usually 12 weeks at a time).  (1). For more information please visit here.

What Is Duromine?

Duromine contains the active ingredient phentermine. Duromine (Phentermine) has been around for 50 years and works really well for weight loss. It is an amphetamine derivative and has impressive appetite suppressant effects. There are some Duromine side effects to be aware of that are caused by the amphetamine-like effects. Phentermine is combined with a resin which slowly releases the phentermine so the effect of Duromine lasts all day. Duromine is used to reduce body weight in obese or overweight patients. (1).

Phentermine is the active ingredient in Duromine, but they are not the same thing. Duromine has another ingredient called resin that makes phentermine release slowly in your body. This makes Duromine safer and more stable than phentermine.B (2).

Is Duromine The Same As Metermine?

iNova already supplies a branded and a generic version of phentermine-based weight loss medication. The products are sold by prescription, under the brand names Duromine and Metermine.

Effectiveness: The average weight loss when taking phentermine is 3% of your initial body weight after 3 months and 5–7% after 6 months. Some people report even more weight loss than this. (2). (3). (4). (5). To put this into perspective, a 5–7% weight loss is 10–14 pounds (4.5–6.4 kg) for a person who weighs 200 pounds (90.7 kg). However, not everyone responds the same way to this medication. If you haven’t lost much weight after 3 months of using it, a healthcare professional may recommend discontinuing the medication. Further, its effectiveness appears to gradually decrease after prolonged use of more than a year. (6)(7). (8). (9). Click here to start your weight loss journey with Phentermine. Side effects can include:

  • Restlessness/problems sleeping
  • Dry mouth
  • Dizziness
  • Changes in mood
  • Itchiness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Increased heart rate/pounding heart

In another study looking at nearly 800 people with BMIs of over 25, 45.6% of people were able to lose 5% or more of their starting body weight after 12 weeks of phentermine use.   According to the drug’s FDA prescription information, certain people should not use the drug, including:

  • Those with an overactive thyroid.
  • People who have mood disorders, especially manic/depressive moods or agitation.
  • Those with cardiovascular disease (including uncontrolled high blood pressure and heart arrythmias).
  • People who have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI—a type of drug that’s sometimes used to treat depression) within 14 days.
  • Pregnant or nursing women.
  • People with glaucoma.

Below are just some of the reviews from people who’ve tried Duromine and the weight loss results they’ve achieved.

Markwa Perth, WA

It works well for the most part .I have used duromine for the past few months and I take breaks off it as well so I don’t take it every day. I have not had much in the way of side effects apart from sometimes having issues sleeping if I have taken it too late in the day. As for what it did for me. Well it took away that desire to snack all the time plus helped me reduce food intake and get the body used to not eating all the time and the results have really surprised me.

I started at 115 kg and as of today I am 98.1kg and this took in total around 5 months to achieve.  But I also have gained muscle mass from weight training and exercise so the true fat loss would be closer to 20-25 kg range. Still it’s not magic and I have also given up most excess sugar intake like I used to drink coke all day long which I gave up over 6 months ago and now only drink water or sugar free drinks. I have being over 100kg mark since I was around 17 yo so to weigh less and be stronger than in my 20’s is impressive and something really making me stick to losing the rest of the weight and gaining more strength

Also as a side note I had bad fatigue issues from long covid based issues and this medication also has helped me overcome that issue though it comes back after I stop using the medication for a few weeks. Still maybe I’ll see if I can remain on a lower dose of it later on if those issues continue. I thought it might be helpful to anyone suffering from long covid related fatigue issues to talk to their doctor about it as an option.

Great, I lost 22 kgI lost 22 kg on duromine, I started off 112 kg in Dec 2022 and am now at 90 kg in May 2023, my goal is still far off. I’m currently weaning off duromine and have about 2 months of 15mg left.  I was on a calorie deficit of 1250 kj but allowed cheat days, as I wanted a balance lifestyle and normally restricted diets never worked for me, to be honest I never did a lot of physical activity maybe walk my dogs once a week and that was it, I do want to start going to the gym.

My main issue whenever I tried to lose weight was snacking and binge eating, duromine was great because I was always full, I didn’t experience much side effects, sometimes if I forgot to take the tablet I would have head ages, I have noticed in arguments with my partner I have experienced a few panic attacks which I’ve never had in my life, I had to go to the ER for the first one as I thought it was an asthma attack.

Obviously all drugs have side effects and it’s different for everyone, I think duromine is great for losing weight and great for people that binge eat as it is an appetite suppressant. I see alot of comments about how after people got off duromine and they gained all the weight back, however if you don’t continue to have a healthy balanced lifestyle of course you will gain it back. Overall I believe duromine is great for weight loss but keep in mind the side effects you may experience.

Great weight loss of 20 kg over 3 months 30mg worked best for me personally. I got mild side effects like feeling thirsty and got less sleep. Found it so easy to control what I ate and how much. Stopped my sugar cravings.

I found I had heaps more energy but couldn’t drink any caffeinated drinks, otherwise my hands would be shaky. I highly recommend giving this a go. But use it as a tool to a healthier lifestyle. As soon as I stopped I felt hungry all of the time. Lost 20kg over 3 months. Age 26yrs. started at 96 kg. Exercise; only walking.

Purchased in June 2021 at Chemist Warehouse for $110.

Millie N Greater Melbourne (Inner), VIC

2kgs lost in first weekI have PCOS and a binge eating disorder which has made weight loss hard for me in the past. I have previously tried Contrave as a appetite suppressant, but I had terrible side effects like vomiting and severe headaches.

So I thought I would try Duromine instead . I am on the lowest dose of 15mgs and I have NO side effects at all!! Just a bit of a dry mouth, but this just encourages me to drink water. Which I probably wasn’t drinking enough before . I am sleeping fine and I don’t have any changes to my energy.

I am hoping that maybe when I go up to the 30mgs I will get the energy boost that other people have mentioned.
Overall I am happy with this medication. 2kgs down in the first week. I am eating much smaller portions and my cravings have disappeared. Therefore I find it really easy to make healthy food choices .

The only exercise I am doing atm is walking my dog 5kms 3 days of the week.

2. Qsymia (phentermine/topiramate/Topamax)

Qsymia combines a low dose of phentermine with topiramate, a drug used to treat seizures and migraines. Phentermine helps suppress appetite and the topiramate helps you to reduce your cravings. Because of the low dose of phentermine, Qsymia can be used over a long period of time and typically produces good results. (2).

Topamax for weight loss

NOTE: Topamax alone is not FDA-approved to treat obesity. However, a healthcare provider may still prescribe it instead of Qsymia when they want the benefits that topiramate brings without the effects of phentermine, either because an individual can’t take phentermine or if they are experiencing side effects. Although Topamax isn’t approved for weight loss., the drug may reduce your appetite, which may lead you to lose weight.

In clinical trials, weight loss occurred in 6% to 17% of people who took Topamax. This depended on the dosage and condition treated. By comparison, weight loss occurred in 1% to 3% of people who took a placebo (a treatment containing no active drug).

One review of studiesTrusted Source looked at the average weight loss in people who took Topamax. It also looked at how long it took them to lose weight when they took the drug. People who took Topamax for at least 4 months lost an average of 11.8 pounds (5.3 kilograms) more than those who took a placebo for the same time period.

Topamax isn’t usually prescribed solely for weight loss. However, your doctor might recommend Topamax for preventing seizures or migraine if you would also benefit from weight loss. For example, if you’re at an increased risk for health problems because of excess weight, Topamax might help you. The drug might also be useful if you’re taking other seizure or migraine treatments that can cause weight gain.

There isn’t a particular dosage or best time of day to take Topamax for weight loss. You should take it as prescribed by your doctor. If you’re interested in taking Topamax for weight loss, it’s important to discuss the possible risks and benefits of this treatment with your doctor. You can order this FDA approved weight loss pill overseas at a reasonable cost by clicking here.

Note: Weight loss is an approved use for the brand-name medication Qsymia. Qsymia contains topiramate (the active drug in Topamax) with another drug called phentermine. Qsymia is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for aiding weight loss in adults with obesity. The drug is also approved for use in adults with overweight who have one or more weight-related health problems. These can include conditions such as high blood pressurehigh cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes. Qsymia is also approved for use in certain children ages 12 years and older.

Topamax generic

Topamax is a brand-name drug that contains the active drug topiramate. This active drug is also available as a generic medication. A generic drug is an exact copy of the active drug in a brand-name medication.

The generic is considered to be as safe and effective as the original drug. Generics tend to cost less than brand-name drugs.

If you’re interested in using the generic form of Topamax, talk with your doctor. They can tell you if it comes in forms and strengths that can be used for your condition.

Qsymia comes in a variety of dosages.

  • For the first two weeks, your provider will prescribe a dose of 3.75/23 mg (3.75 mg of phentermine, 23 mg of topiramate) taken in capsule form once a day.
  • Starting in week three, you’ll be prescribed a 7.5/46 mg capsule. If you’ve lost at least 3% of your overall body weight by the end of 12 weeks, you’ll stay on this dose indefinitely.
  • If not, your healthcare provider may up the dose to a maximum of 15/92 mg.

Effectiveness: One review concluded that phentermine/topiramate resulted in an average weight loss of 17 lb (7.7 kg) and significantly reduced belly fat, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. (3). Another review comparing the effectiveness of several weight loss medications found that people with overweight or obesity who took phentermine/topiramate lost an average of 19.4 lb (8.8 kg) after 1 year (4).

Topamax (Topiramate)

Below are just some of the reviews from drugs.com from actual people who are losing weight with the appetite suppressant topamax (topiramate) which by the way Includes my wife:

(Sunny)

Taken for 6 months to 1 year  October 25, 2019

Topamax (topiramate) “I was prescribed Topamax for migraine headaches and weight loss. Being on Depakote, my weight had shot up 25 pounds with no end in sight. I was even craving sweets, which I had never done. After two days of Topamax, my appetite decreased noticeably. After a week, I had lost 7 pounds. By the time I had been on it for a month, I was down to 125 and still not hungry. Eating became something I thought I should do instead of something I HAD to do. When my weight dropped to 118, I stopped the Topamax, thinking, if I start to gain weight I’ll take it again. It’s been six years since I’ve taken Topamax and I weigh 130; 20.4 BMI. The results seem to last. I’m not sure it worked for my migraines, but it’s awesome for weight loss!”

(Lovell)

Happy… Taken for less than 1 month May 24, 2013

Topamax (topiramate) “I have been on Topamax for a little less than a month and already lost 16 pounds! My doctor gave it to me for the weight loss effects and I have had no adverse side effects that I know of so far. It rates a 10 in my book!”

(No name)

Taken for less than 1 month March 8, 2020

“I have been prescribed Topamax 25 at bedtime due to overeating and sleepless nights associated with depression and medication weight gain. I have been on it for two days now, and the cravings are still strong as ever. How long does it usually take for it to kick in?”

“Before Topamax, I used to suffer from chronic migraines. I mean 3-4 migraines a week. Been on Topamax for nearly 3 weeks, day one 25mg instant appetite suppressant loss. 18.7 lbs in 2 weeks! Inches everywhere, food tastes good, just eat very little of it. I’m never ever hungry, but I enjoy cooking! I have energy, not bogged down with lots of medicines anymore, and not one full migraine! I’m excited to lose weight, it’s actually very easy to eat healthy. It’s all you crave, and I was a sweet addict. No ugly side effects as described, not on this dosage. So, I hope this has helped someone.”

(Margie)

Taken for less than 1 month August 29, 2020

Topiramate is a miracle medication! A godsend for losing weight! I have only had to be on a 25mg dose of topiramate a day, and it has hugely reduced my appetite so that I’ve been eating very small portions, and only wanted to eat healthy food, and I haven’t been thinking about food all the time like I used to. I used to binge eat three times a day, incredibly unhealthy and have unhealthy snacks like chocolate brownies, and spent around $90 a day on Ubereats. On topiramate, I’m rapidly losing weight. I was told by my psychiatrist that I’d start on 25mg, after one week move up to 50mg then after another week go up to 100mg, and she told me all about the side effects especially memory loss. I haven’t had any side effects! Perhaps because I’ve only needed to be on 25mg! Plus, in Australia it’s extremely inexpensive. This medication has been incredible and life-changing. I wish I’d found it years ago!”

And while Qsymia can have other serious side effects, including suicidal thoughts, increased irritability, worsening depression/anxiety and heart and eye problems, the most common ones include:

  • Trouble sleeping
  • Dizziness
  • Changes in the way food tastes
  • Tingling or numbness in hands, feet, arms, and face
  • Dry mouth

3. Saxenda (liraglutide)

The active ingredient in Saxenda is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, a class of drugs used to treat Type 2 diabetes and keep blood sugar levels in check. GLP-1 is a hormone your body naturally makes that’s released in response to food and helps regulate your appetite. Saxenda mimics the action of GLP-1 in your body, but it lasts much longer than naturally occurring GLP-1. As such, it can help suppress hunger longer and slow the movement of food emptying from your belly. Both factors can help you eat less overall and lose weight.

How it works: GLP-1 agonists work by slowing the emptying of the stomach, increasing feelings of fullness, and reducing the secretion of glucagon, a hormone involved in regulating appetite. (5).

Effectiveness: Several studies have found that GLP-1 agonists could be beneficial for weight management.

For instance, one study in 1,961 adults found that taking 2.4 milligrams (mg) of semaglutide per week combined with lifestyle changes resulted in a nearly 15% reduction in body weight after 68 weeks (6). Another small study found that people taking liraglutide lost an average of 17.2 lb (7.8 kg) over 6 months.(7).

How Much Does Saxenda Cost?

The price you pay for Saxenda can vary. Your cost may depend on your treatment plan, your insurance coverage, and the pharmacy you use. To find out how much you’ll pay for Saxenda, talk with your doctor, pharmacist, or insurance provider. If you don’t have insurance and/or your insurance won’t cover the cost of Saxenda you can order this weight loss medication from a reliable pharmacy by clicking here.

Many people report that in the past they’ve never before left food on their plates, but with Saxenda, they’re eating a lot less and getting full faster. In late 2020, Saxenda was approved for use in adolescents. Saxenda is a daily injectable with dosing increasing from 0.6 mg in week one to 3.0 mg by week five. While Saxenda can cause some serious side effects, such as inflammation of the pancreas (called pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, and mood changes, the most common side effects include: (7). (8).

  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Vomiting

A study following more than 500 people found that 50.5% of those taking liraglutide were able to lose at least 5% of their body weight during the study period versus 21.8% who took a placebo. Even more impressive, 26.1% of the drug group were able to lose 10% of their body weight compared to just 6.3% in the placebo group.  Saxenda carries a black box warning (the FDA’s strongest alert to consumers and healthcare providers about very serious side effects) due to the fact that animal studies have linked liraglutide and medicines like it to certain thyroid tumors and thyroid cancer. It’s important that you not use Saxenda if you have had these conditions or have a family history of them.  Click here to start your weight loss journey with Saxenda.

Saxenda isn’t appropriate for pregnant or nursing women. Talk to your family doctor if you’re taking medicines that act like GLP-1 receptor agonists. Because Saxenda can slow stomach emptying, it’s also important to ask your doctor how that may affect other prescription and over-the-counter medications you take.

Below are some of the weight loss reviews for the weight loss medication Saxenda:

lbdd June 3, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I am currently in week 3. I have lost 14 pounds. The side effects have been minimal, and are a little stronger on a day that I increase dosage. The notable side effects are a light nausea when it is time to eat, or after a meal in which I have eaten more than I should. I am incredibly pleased with the results of this medication. I feel good, and my stamina for exercise has increased. My blood pressure has dropped significantly, so my doctor and I reduced my blood pressure medication by half. My cravings for sugar are non-existent. I carefully consider what I am eating. I try to get in fruits and vegetables, but if there is pizza at my house, I just eat a few bites. I encourage anyone who needs this medicine to try it!! Giving yourself an injection is actually easy. The needle is so small, you barely feel it. I don’t write reviews normally, but I feel very strongly about this option for weight loss.”

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I started taking Saxenda in April 2019. I was 273 lbs, lost over 90 lbs, and am still keeping it off. It is a whole different life for me. I used to avoid going down the stairs to do laundry, but now don’t even think about it. We got a 66 lb dog, and I walk him twice a day and get in 6000 to 10000 steps a day. I am very thankful to my P.A. for telling me about it. I really lost 1/3 of my weight. I have been off Saxenda for about a year now.”

Sweet… March 7, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “Started October 19, 2020. First three months, side effects were nausea and acid reflux. At about 2 months in, constipation was bad. Started eating All-Bran every morning and taking 1 FloraLax daily, and the constipation went away in two weeks. Almost 4 months in, all side effects are gone, so my body got used to the drug. Started at 201 lb, BMI 34. Now 165 lb, BMI 29. I am 62 years old and thought I could not lose weight anymore because of a severe food addiction. I think this drug has helped with readjusting my metabolism. Words can never explain the pure joy I feel inside. I should have gone to see my doctor a long time ago to talk about weight loss. I used to eat all the time, even get up at night to eat. Not anymore!”

Erica Taken for 1 to 6 months April 5, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I’ve been on Saxenda since 1/5/21 and I have lost 40 pounds in two months! This is a miracle drug! I’ve been trying to lose weight for years now because I gained SO much weight in college. You can say I definitely gained the “freshman 50.” Once I graduated college in 2013, I tried every kind of diet from WW to Jenny Craig to diet shakes, and that never worked. My mom told me about this injection, and it’s honestly changed my life! I definitely recommend this injection if you have a really hard time losing weight. I will say you definitely need to exercise for 30 minutes at least twice a week, but you don’t have to do more than that. I am so happy and feel so great! I wish you all the best of luck, you won’t regret it!!!!”

4. Contrave, (naltrexone and bupropion)

Contrave combines naltrexone (used to treat substance abuse) and bupropion (an antidepressant that’s marketed under the brand name Wellbutrin). It’s thought to work on the brain to regulate appetite and cravings. Like a lot of prescription weight loss pills, your dose of Contrave will start out low and increase over time.

  • Week one: One pill in the morning.
  • Week two: Two pills, one in the morning and the other at night.
  • Week three: Two pills in the morning and one in the evening.
  • Week four and beyond: Four pills per day—two in the morning, two in the evening

How it works: Though the exact mechanism of naltrexone/bupropion is not fully understood, it’s believed to promote weight loss by acting on certain parts of the brain to reduce food intake, boost metabolism, and increase feelings of fullness. (9).

Effectiveness: One review of four studies showed that naltrexone/bupropion was associated with significant weight loss compared to a placebo. Over 1 year, participants lost an average of 11–22 lb (5–9 kg) (10). Another review had similar findings, reporting that naltrexone/bupropion could be effective for long-term weight loss maintenance as well. (11).

CONTRAVE

A prescription drug called Contrave is given to people who are overweight or obese to help them lose weight. It combines bupropion and naltrexone, two medications that reduce food intake and cravings. Contrave is made to help with weight loss by decreasing appetite and raising feelings of fullness through two different mechanisms. Bupropion is thought to influence the parts of the brain that regulate appetite, whereas naltrexone helps lessen dietary dependence and cravings. Learn more.

Contrave can potentially produce serious side effects, such as suicidal thoughts and seizures, but the most common side effects are:
  • Dizziness
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Dry mouth
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Constipation
  • Headache
  • Vomiting

Another study examined how Contrave contributed to weight loss when used in conjunction with behavior therapy (sessions with registered dietitians, exercise specialists, and psychologists). Compared to those receiving a placebo and therapy, 1.5 times as many people in the Contrave/therapy group were able to lose at least 5% of their body weight compared to those in the placebo groupClick here to start your weight loss journey with Contrave.

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “So one year ago today I started taking Contrave. I am a 65-year-old male, and when I started, I was 349 lbs. After many diets and weight loss fads with little to no success, I went to see my doctor to discuss bariatric surgery, which I wasn’t looking forward to but felt I didn’t have much choice. At first, I experienced a bit of nausea and lightheadedness, but it was very minor. Right away, I felt my appetite decreasing. I did watch what I ate but didn’t restrict any specific foods, just a whole lot less of it. It began to work immediately, and the weight started coming off pretty quickly. I am very excited to announce that after 1 year, I have dropped 75 lbs (my goal was 60 lbs) and feel wonderful. For me, Contrave was a ‘wonder drug’ and gave me the boost I needed. I am remaining on the pills for a bit longer, but I really feel I can monitor the quantity of food I consume. The only real side effect has been the money I have spent on new clothes – actually very happily.”

Jerse… Taken for less than 1 month October 10, 2020

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I started at 153 lbs. I’m 5’2”. Three weeks later, after starting Contrave, I’m now 144. The side effect symptoms weren’t as severe as others describe, but I do feel a little loopy, occasional headaches. I haven’t upped my dosage to more than 2 a day because I haven’t found it necessary. I used to drink almost every day. It wasn’t only bad, but it was keeping me from losing weight. I felt like I was losing control of the drinking, and Contrave has absolutely almost eliminated all my drinking cravings.

I’m so thankful to God, I’ve only drank 3 times in 3 weeks. And I must say, DO NOT DRINK WHILE ON THIS PILL, don’t take it for at least 2 days before drinking. My food cravings are very much diminished, and staying under 1000 calories has been easy. It’s gotten easier as time goes. It does make me sleep through the night, which I love, but it does make me feel slightly loopy during the day. I highly recommend Contrave for weight loss and to stop drinking.”

Shell… Taken for 2 to 5 years January 26, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I’ve been on this for over 3 years. I lost about 56 lbs in my first year, and then a few more over time after that. I started at 224, and my lowest weight was 158. I now maintain around 162-165, and I am happy with that. I have kept the weight off by exercising. It’s been the best thing for me.”

Anony… Taken for 6 months to 1 year September 28, 2020

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I have been on Contrave for 8 months and have lost approximately 35 pounds and have another 30 pounds to get to my target weight. If you can get past the first few weeks, it really does work. You can immediately feel the reduction in food cravings and appetite. I used anti-nausea drugs to help me the first week and then I had no issues. You do have to follow a healthy diet, but for people who eat compulsively, it makes a big difference in being able to resist junk food and reduce your food intake. This ultimately allows your body to adjust to healthier food and shrink your stomach.”

Claire July 29, 2019

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I’ve had great success on this medication. I experienced mild side effects (headache, constipation, dry mouth, occasional ear ringing) the first 4 weeks while increasing. I have lost a total of 35 pounds so far in 3 months! Binging has stopped, the cravings have significantly subsided, and I get full faster when I eat. This is with minimal diet and exercise. I’m sure when I introduce those 2 things it will take off even more. I have food addiction and no matter what, my brain always told my body to eat even if I was full – I couldn’t turn that off no matter how hard I tried. All that has stopped. Contrave has worked great for me and I hope others have the same experience.”

5. Plenity

Plenity is technically a medical device, not a medication. It’s a capsule that contains superabsorbent hydrogel particles. When the capsule is swallowed, the particles are released, helping to fill up to one fourth of the stomach (when a person is fully hydrated). With the stomach at least partially full, you’re apt to eat less. You take three Plenity capsules with 16 ounces of water before lunch and dinner. The particles absorb the water and mix with the food in your stomach, helping you feel fuller so you eat less. Please click here to order this weight loss medication from an American Pharmacy so that you can start your weight loss journey with Plenity.

Effectiveness – In a clinical study,* nearly 6 out of 10 people who took Plenity lost at least 5% of their body weight. Their average weight loss was 10% (about 22 pounds). *Plenity (n=223) or placebo (n=213) was administered to 436 adults with excess weight or obesity, with or without type 2 diabetes.(1). The study was designed to measure:

  • whether at least 35% of individuals receiving Plenity lost 5% of their body weight
    • in a clinical trial, 59% of Plenity responders lost on average 10% of their body weight (22 pounds) in six months
  • whether individuals receiving Plenity lost 3% more of their body weight than individuals receiving placebo
    • individuals on Plenity lost on average 6% vs individuals on placebo, who lost on average 4%.

The most common side effects are:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Flatulence
  • Bloating

Plenity is not approved for use in those under the age of 22. You also shouldn’t take it if you’re allergic to citric acid, cellulose, gelatin, and other ingredients of the gel.

6. Alli, Xenical, (Orlistat.)

Orlistat is a lipase inhibitor, meaning it blocks the enzyme that helps absorb some of the fats in the foods you eat. Meaning, less of the fat you consume makes it into fat cells to become stubborn belly fat. Orlistat comes in two different strengths—an over-the-counter 60mg strength marketed as Alli and a prescription-strength (120mg) marketed as Xenical.  Xencal is taken by mouth three times a day, with or within one hour of a meal that contains fat.

The most common side effects of Xenical are:

  • Urgent need to have a bowel movement/unable to control bowel movement.
  • More frequent bowel movements.
  • Oily stools.
  • Gas with an oily discharge.
  • Loose stools.

Xenical is not as effective as some other weight-loss prescriptions. One study comparing orlistat with liraglutide found that those using the latter were able to lose more than twice as much weight as those taking orlistat.

How it works: Orlistat works by blocking the activity of certain enzymes used to break down fats in the digestive tract, which helps to reduce the amount of calories that you absorb . (3).

Effectiveness: According to a 2011 study of 80 people with obesity, those who took orlistat lost an average of 10.3 pounds (lb), or 4.65 kilograms (kg), after 6 months. They also experienced significant reductions in body mass index (BMI), belly fat, and total and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. (4). Following a low fat diet is typically recommended while taking this medication to help minimize adverse side effects. (5). Please click here to order this weight loss medication from an American company so that you can start your weight loss journey with Alli.

George Taken for less than 1 month September 7, 2019

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “Been using this medication for a little over a week. My observations are the following: 1. Do not fart unless you are on a toilet. Unless you don’t mind the orange skid marks. 2. Keep a toilet brush handy to clean your bowl after you flush your gross stool. Unless you don’t mind a dirty toilet. 3. Again, hold those farts in until you find a toilet. Just avoid being around people smoking unless you want to cause a fire from the gasses you release.”

Mikki Taken for less than 1 month March 11, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “Not only am I premenopausal, but I also have no gallbladder to break down the bile. Since my surgery and going into menopause, I have gained over 20 lbs. I needed something to help more than most people to eliminate bad fat and flush it out. After just a day or two, I noticed it doing its job, and I actually feel a lot better too. I don’t have that bloated or feeling too full sensation. I made sure to start this on my weekend to ensure everything would go okay and I wouldn’t have any accidents. I noticed that as long as I follow the simple plan of a lower calorie or lower-fat diet, and just take one with my higher-fat meals, I haven’t had any problems. I lost 3 lbs in 6 days so far, so I’m actually pretty impressed. I also think this is a good product to take for those who are trying to lose weight with no gallbladder or going through menopause, those pounds that sneak up very quickly.”

Banda Taken for 1 to 6 months May 12, 2018

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “People keep saying all kinds of stuff about Alli does not work, but it clearly states it is a weight loss aid, and you need to exercise and eat right. Don’t forget that weight loss will take the duration your body took to gain weight. Take control of your body and stop blaming and whining. I lost 50 lbs with diet, daily exercise, and Alli in 6 months.”

Kar4em July 1, 2017

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “Okay, so after reading some of the reviews, I was a little reluctant to try Alli. There were comments saying how you would poop yourself, etc. Well, let me tell you, no, that does not happen if you’re eating a healthy diet. I love it, and yes, instead of losing the typical 2 pounds a week, I am losing 3. So happy I tried this and will continue to use it. Down 16 pounds and 24 to go! Check it out yourself before you read all the ridiculous comments. Eat healthy, and yes, it works!”

Donna January 16, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I’ve had no side effects and no weight loss after 3 months, so my physician told me to stop taking the pills. My labs all came back normal, so no thyroid, Cushing’s, etc… It was so frustrating! Then, because of the Covid, everything was telemedicine and I got a new physician via Zoom call and she requested a new set of labs and told me I had pre-diabetic insulin resistance.

That changed everything! My diet had to change yet again. I’m following more of a high veggie and low any type of carb diet, PLUS the Alli and I am *finally* losing those darn menopause pounds that, literally, sneak up on you. What am I saying? Take Alli to help with weight loss but if it doesn’t work, you need to keep working with your physician to get the right combination of diet & exercise for Alli to work. For you premenopausal and postmenopausal women out there; keep at it! The weight does, eventually, come off and you don’t have to starve yourself or have risky surgery to do it.“

AllI ORLISTAT 60 mg Capsules Weight Loss Aid
Alli is the only FDA-approved over-the-counter weight loss aid around. In fact, the active ingredient in alli, orlistat has been the subject in over 100 clinical studies. That makes orlistat one of the most thoroughly studied weight loss medicine in the world, used by more than 50 million people.

Alli blocks fat

It’s simple, alli contains orlistat, which helps prevent about 25% of the fat you eat from getting absorbed into your body. And since the calories associated with this unabsorbed fat are not used (1 gram of fat = 9 calories), the number of calories that.

Lose 2-3 pounds more

If your BMI is 25 or above, you can start talking alli at any time, alli can maximize your weight loss efforts when paired with a low-fat, reduced-calorie diet. For every 5 pounds, you lose from diet alone, alli can help lose 2-3 pounds more.

Active ingredient: Orlistat

Orlistat, the active ingredient in Alli, is a lipase inhibitor and works by binding to specific enzymes that break down fats (triglycerides). As a result, about 25% of the consumed fat is not absorbed and passes through the digestive system and is naturally excreted by the body. Since the calories associated with this unabsorbed fat are not used (1 gram of fat=9 calories), the number of calories that enter your system is reduced. Gurlo Taken for less than 1 month August 21, 2019

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “25, female, started off at 15st 7lbs or 99 kg or 217 lbs (I’m 5 ‘7). Originally I was looking for a quick fix but realistically when it comes to weight loss there isn’t one. I gained 70lbs in the last 4 years and finally realized how unhappy I was. 20 days in and I have lost 14lbs/6kg. I am strict on my diet, though to be honest I haven’t done the recommended exercise. So I can only imagine how much I would have lost in that time.

As for the oily orange stools, I haven’t had any uncontrollable accidents, you can see it in the toilet bowl but haven’t had any embarrassing moments as of yet, but I am keeping within the recommended daily allowance of fats. I would recommend Orlistat to anyone who needs a helping hand, I have found that it has made me really determined to make better choices regarding my health and weight. Co-workers and family have noticed a difference in my body and I can feel it in my clothes so I’m really happy.”

I find it really makes you think about the foods you choose to eat because you don’t want any nasty side effects. I can honestly say I have had none at all. Been on a low cal, low fat diet and exercising every day. I started out weighing 14 stone 10 lbs and now weigh 11 stone 11 lbs. If I can do it with 3 children then anyone can. Power to you all, you are an inspiration.”

Kentu… Taken for 1 to 6 months March 3, 2019

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “This has been a miracle drug for me! I have tried and failed many times at dieting. I could not lose weight. I am type 1 diabetic, and I just kept packing on the pounds. Finally, at 271 lbs, I asked for help. In the U.S., my insurance would not cover the cost of Xenical. It was going to cost me $600 a month. Fortunately, the clinic has a prescription assistance program, and I am able to get it for $15 a month. I found out real quick what I could eat and what I could not eat. There were a few days spent on the toilet, but I learned to modify my eating. Xenical does not make you jittery or fill you up. It works in your stomach and gut. I went to my weight doctor yesterday, and in three months, I have lost 33 lbs without much effort at all!!! I am now 238 lbs, and do not need to sleep with my sleep apnea machine. I feel great and people comment that even my complexion looks better. I am still taking Xenical, and still losing weight.”

blobbzi November 26, 2011

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I love Xenical. It is basically making me scared to eat rubbish because of the oily poo side effect, with a very urgent need to ‘go’ it is making me look at food in a different way. If I see a family-size chocolate bar, which previously I would have eaten within 2 minutes, I just see it as a slab of fat. It has changed my attitude towards food. I now eat healthy food because I know what the unhealthy food will look like as it comes out, and I am disgusted that all of that unhealthy fat was going into my body, into my arteries, around my heart. It has been a visual education in healthy eating. I am losing weight and it’s thanks to Xenical.”

7. Wegovy (semaglutide)

Wegovy is the newest FDA-approved weight-loss medication and works much the same way as Saxenda, by mimicking the action of the hormone GLP-1 to suppress hunger.  Wegovy is a once-a-week injectable. Dosage is increased over the course of several weeks-to-months, until a 2.4 mg dose is achieved. Some of the most common side effects include:

  • Indigestion
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Belching/flatulence
  • Low blood sugar (if you have Type 2 diabetes)
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Vomiting
  • Stomach pain

In one study, the mean change in body weight was -14.9% in the Wegovy group versus -2.4% in the placebo one. Eighty-four percent of those in the Wegovy group lost 5% or more of their body weight compared to 31.5% of those taking a placebo.

Effectiveness: Wegovy has been found to be effective for long-term weight loss and weight management in adults in clinical studies. (6).

Like Saxenda, Wegovy carries a black box warning due to the possibility that it may increase your risk of certain thyroid tumors and cancer. Pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney injury, low blood sugar, and other conditions have also been reported with Wegovy use. Click here to start your weight loss journey with Wegovy.

WEGOVY

Wegovy is a prescription injectable drug used once a week to treat weight loss in adults who are obese or who have weight-related problems. It is a member of the class of medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which suppress appetite and decrease caloric intake. Semaglutide is the generic name under which Wegovy is sold.

Wegovy is used in addition to a diet plan with fewer calories and frequent exercise. Its qualities are comparable to those of Ozempic, which has demonstrated effectiveness in managing weight loss. It functions by reducing appetite, which stops overindulging in unhealthy food and unwelcome cravings. Once a week, this injectable treatment is applied subcutaneously beneath the skin.

It stops the onset of diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease that are linked to obesity. Wegovy is also an incretin mimetic, a substance that mimics the actions of incretin hormones. It improves blood sugar regulation by inducing the release of insulin. Patients with type 2 diabetes may find this medication beneficial. Learn more.

Bo Peep Taken for 6 months to 1 year February 28, 2022

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I started with Ozempic (which is the same thing, I think) for assistance with diabetes. In the first year, I lost fifty pounds, I became more capable of moving better, and I started. In February and March of the second year, I was hospitalized twice for massive blood clots in my right thigh and the Wegovy was put aside for a couple of months. In April of 2021, my endocrinologist asked me if I would like to switch to this new version that might give me a boost

Sure, why not. I started with the lowest and immediately moved to the 2.4 doses. I have had no side effects, no problems with the injection sites. The only issue has been obtaining the medicine. Oh, health changes. Within the first year of the Ozempic, my A1c went from 8.1 to 7.3, in the second year it has dropped to 6.1. My blood glucose averages are about 130, I can live with that! I have to be careful with going too low! Total weight loss is hovering between 95 and 100 lbs.”

Bmi Taken for 1 to 6 months December 28, 2021

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I feel completely normal with regard to appetite. I hardly think of food and never finish my plate. I definitely needed the Zofran script – I found the first two days were the most difficult. Definitely losing weight, which makes it easier to do gentle stretching to prepare for more walking and stairs. Fear is alleviated…hope is restored…I have control, therefore, the ability to make healthier food choices and increase exercise. Not for everyone, definitely for me.”

Sks Taken for less than 1 month May 25, 2023

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I never leave reviews and rarely have side effects from medication. However, after one injection on the lowest dose, I am so beyond sick. Two days after my injection, I got a migraine followed by extreme vomiting for 4 days, chills, nausea, and a trip to the ER. This medication made me so unbelievably sick, it is like I’ve been poisoned. I have missed 4 days of work and am so weak. Living on Pedialyte and numerous nausea medications. Please be so careful. I was so hopeful and had no idea this would happen to me.”

Anonymous Taken for 1 to 6 months June 20, 2024

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “I have been on Wegovy for 5 months. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I have lost almost 50 lbs and it has given me my life back. I was overweight and depressed for years after having my last child. The only side effect I have had is some occasional constipation. This medication is amazing!”

Hites… Taken for 1 to 6 months June 27, 2024

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) “Started Wegovy on May 11th at 0.25. I’m on my 4th injection of 0.5 and moving up to 1.0 next week. Started at 228 lbs. I’m down to 213. No side effects. I have to eat a small dinner and not too close to bedtime or I get heartburn. Slow and steady wins the race. Wegovy is the most effective appetite suppressant I have ever used, and best of all, no jitters or sleeplessness.”

Bottom Line

Prescription weight loss drugs can be effective, but they aren’t risk free. While most side effects are mild, some can be very serious and will vary based on the drug and the person using it. Some of the red flags that require a doctor’s attention are:

  • Low blood sugar (symptoms are dizziness, feeling clammy, and increased heart rate).
  • Bumps—aka nodules—around the front of your neck (this can indicate a thyroid problem).
  • All-over severe stomach pain (this could signal pancreatitis)
  • Increased heart rate that doesn’t slow down.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Kidney stones (symptoms include abdominal pain, back pain, and/or blood in the urine).
  • Seizures.

Your family doctor should be monitoring you while you’re on the medication, but if something is worrying you, don’t be afraid to reach out. Only you, know your body best, If something doesn’t feel right, give your doctor a call right away!

If you decide to stop taking the drug for any reason, speak to your doctor about how to do so safely. Quitting cold turkey can be dangerous with some of these drugs. “Contrave, for example, has to be gradually reduced,to reduce the risk of seizures.

Senagal Taken for 1 to 6 months February 27, 2023

“I am an African American female, 58 years old, 5 ‘8” tall, and weighed an unbelievable 270 lbs on 12/30/22. I asked my doctor if I could take this medication, and now here we are, 8 weeks later. I currently weigh 244.6 lbs. I lost 16 lbs in the first 3 weeks. I was extremely shocked and a little worried. My health is a constant concern, I suffer from chronic allergies, and frequently took steroid shots to manage the problem, which brought on weight gain. I am feeling better about myself. I am honestly trying to make this a life change. As for the first day after each shot, I am exceptionally tired, and I experienced redness at the injection site once. I’m not sure why, but so far so good. No headaches, no vomiting, just slight constipation. I am attempting to make this a life change with better food selections and exercise regimens to keep me on track.”

Nimrod Taken for 1 to 6 months June 29, 2023

“315-pound man, 64 heavy drinker, quit all booze, gained weight. Began rowing daily, gained weight. Counted all calories, 2500/day, no loss. A1C not bad 7, went on Mounjaro lowest dose 2.5. Have lost 40 pounds (!) in two months, eat anything and everything just way less and no desire to snack between. Still losing a bit, but feel plateaued, may ask for a larger dose. A miracle has changed my life mentally and physically. Also, no desire to drink, a side benefit? I didn’t do anything, this is all science. I pray it continues to work. Great delivery system. As long as I don’t grow a third arm or have something fall off, I’m riding this thing as long as possible. Magic, feel strong, energetic.”

Ava Taken for 1 to 6 months March 9, 2023

“I have learned to manage side effects (constipation) with probiotics. This is the only thing that has allowed me to lose the weight I gained post-menopause. I was a size 22 and am now almost a size 10. My BMI went from 39 to just over 30, and I have about 25 more pounds to go. I lost 45 pounds recently. I am no longer taking medication for migraines, asthma, and chronic edema, and my BP medication has been reduced by half.”

Shana… Taken for 1 to 6 months July 14, 2023

“I started Mounjaro 5/26/23 weighing 200.5 lbs. I work out 3-5 days per week but was not losing weight. I am down 15 lbs and have lost all cravings. I listen to my body and eat when I am hungry. I have zero side effects.”

Amazing Taken for 6 months to 1 year May 1, 2023

“I have been on the 15 mg/0.5 mL for the last four months and on Mounjaro for a total of ten months starting with the 2.5 mg dosage. Well, I have to say I love it. I had a bit of nausea in the beginning but that’s it, I never had it again. I have lost a total of 115 lbs. I don’t just eat whatever I want though; I have mainly been eating chicken, eggs, and turkey with things like cauliflower rice and once a week regular rice. I have gone from being 455 lbs to my current weight of 340 lbs. Also, something awesome, I have gone from a size 62 waist in pants to now a 52. I am so happy with it.”

Online Pharmacy. The Advantages and Disadvantages of Ordering Prescription Drugs on the Web.

Online pharmacies have flooded the Internet with thousands of offers. Many people see this as an opportunity to buy medicines fast and easily while paying a cheap  price. Others see only risks, like poor quality drugs, counterfeit medications, and other pitfalls common online. But let’s not judge online pharmacies unambiguously. We’ll try to bust the myths about online pharmacies and show the real picture of the benefits and drawbacks you can face when ordering medications online.

How Often Are Online Prescription Drug Purchases Made?

The statistics say that about third of all prescription medications and health and wellness products in the United States are purchased online. Not a lot, Right! However, it’s worth mentioning that the number of health products and medications sold online has been constantly growing since 2003. During the pandemic, the numbers increased substantially as millions of people were deprived of the possibility of buying medications in their local pharmacies. Such a situation gave a strong push to the development of e-commerce pharmacies. The growing number of people using online pharmacies means that the credit of trust to such services is getting higher.

The Advantages of Buying Prescription Drugs From an Online Pharmacy

On condition that you buy drugs from a licensed online pharmacy, you can get a wide range of services aside from buying medicines. Such pharmacies are operating legally and can prove this with the necessary documents. If you don’t trust what you see on the website, you can check the licensing documents using other sources.  For instance, you can go to the FDA website, where there is a list of all licensed pharmacies operating online. If you buy drugs from a Canadian pharmacy, there are several ways you can check their trustworthiness. They are all right here.

Leaving behind the licensing, let’s get down to the brass tacks as to why people choose to buy prescription drugs from an online pharmacy:

  • Convenience –  Due to the round-the-clock access to an online pharmacy, you can make an order whenever it is convenient for you. Besides, buying medicines on the Internet, you don’t have to leave home, which is often a decisive reason to use the services of an online pharmacy.
  • Availability of medications -. It may happen that the medicines you need are out of stock in your local pharmacy. This situation is almost impossible when you order medicines from an online pharmacy.
  • Cheap prices –  Due to the difference in expenses on operational needs, an online pharmacy can sell medicines at significantly lower prices than the brick and mortar drugstore. Online pharmacies often have direct contracts with manufacturing companies, which allows them to buy drugs cheaper. This also reflects in the price of the medication you’d wish to order.
  • Remote consultations with pharmacists –  Any licensed online pharmacy offers remote consultations with pharmacists. You can ask questions and get all the information you need regarding the dosing regimen and safety precautions when using this or that medication. Besides, by communicating with the pharmacist in an online mode, there’s no risk of getting infected with the virus humanity has been fighting with within the past couple of years.
  • You can purchase prescription drugs online – If you have a valid prescription, you can buy prescription medicines online too.
  • Various  payment methods to choose from – Online pharmacies usually offer several methods of payment. You can choose the one you feel comfortable with and fulfill the transaction within seconds.
  • Delivery to your door – Forget about driving to the pharmacist. A courier will bring your package right to your door. If you worry about privacy, then don’t. The medicines come well-packed with no name of the medication on the package.

The Disadvantages of Buying Prescription Drugs  from an Online Pharmacy

Nothing’s perfect in this world, and neither are online pharmacies. Such a method of buying medicines has not only lots of benefits but also a number of drawbacks. Here are some of them.:

  • Regardless of the time you place an order, it will be processed during working hours only.
  • If you don’t check the licensing of an online pharmacy before ordering there, you risk becoming a victim of fraud.
  • Your package may be lost or damaged in the process of delivery, which means you’ll have to deal with the support service, trying to get a refund or exchange the medications.
TAKEAWAY

Despite some drawbacks of buying medicines at an online pharmacy, the benefits still outweigh the drawbacks. When you order from a trustworthy online pharmacy, the risks you’ll face are minimum. So, be careful, and spend a couple of minutes of your life checking if the online pharmacy you want to buy from deserves your time and money. Good luck!

What If I Don’t Have Health Insurance And /Or Can’t Afford Some Of These Best Weight Loss Pills That Actually Work, Should I Try To Get It Filled By An Online Pharmacy?

Yes, it’s possible to get a prescription filled by a legitimate online pharmacy, but it’s important to take steps to ensure your safety. Some signs of a safe online pharmacy include:

(1). Licensing

The pharmacy is licensed with a state board of pharmacy. You can check the pharmacy’s license in the state’s board of pharmacy license database using the FDA’s BeSafeRx website. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy can also tell you if a pharmacy is licensed and in good standing.

(2). Prescription requirements

The pharmacy requires a prescription from a licensed doctor, usually by mail. If they accept a fax copy, they will call your doctor to verify it.

(3). Other requirements

The pharmacy may ask for a detailed medical history. They should also have a licensed pharmacist on staff to answer questions.

(4). Website

The pharmacy’s website should clearly state their payment, privacy, and shipping fees. They should also use secure or encrypted website connections for transactions. Some sites may also carry a seal of approval from Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS).

(5). Do Your Homework

Do Your Homework Before Ordering Prescription Drugs Online

Many online pharmacies are legitimate. But, not all Websites that offer prescription drugs can be trusted. Some are not pharmacies at all. With that in mind, it is very important that you take steps to help ensure your own safety when deciding to use an online pharmacy. First, make sure the online pharmacy you are considering is licensed in the state or country where it operates. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy can tell you whether an online pharmacy in the U.S. is licensed and in good standing. Some online pharmacy sites carry a seal of approval from Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites, or VIPPS.

(6). Use Online Pharmacies From Overseas Only If They Require A Valid Prescription

Online pharmacies are subject only to the laws and regulations of the countries where they are based. For example, in Canada and Australiaa valid prescription must be supplied before the medication is dispensed. However, in Mexico, many prescription drugs are sold over the counter and can be ordered over the Internet without a prescription.

Conclusion

Pharmacists and other health professionals should discourage patients from buying medications from online overseas pharmacies. Likewise, patients should not order any medication that was not prescribed by a licensed US health professional. If patients are insistent about using Internet pharmacies, they should be counseled to use only pharmacies that have received the VIPPS designation and require a legal prescription before dispensing any medication. However, healthcare professionals should be aware that many consumers are using online pharmacies simply to bypass the prescription process, and not to save money

Is it illegal for individuals to import FDA-approved drugs from other countries?

In most circumstances, it is illegal for individuals to import FDA-approved drugs from other countries for personal use. However, based on changes enacted by the MMA, personal importation of prescription drugs that have not been approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. is permitted on a case-by-case basis.

Is it legal to buy prescription drugs from another country?

As a general rule, the FDA does not allow the importation of prescription drugs that were purchased outside the United States.” The FDA says this is because it can’t guarantee that the drugs are safe, legitimate and effective. All medications sold in the U.S. have to meet the agency’s standards.

Buying medications from other countries online:

Can I buy prescription drugs from Canada online?

For the most part, individuals aren’t allowed to import prescriptions, though many people order medications by mail or travel across the U.S.-Canada border to make cheaper purchases. Under limited circumstances, the FDA allows people in the U.S. to buy prescription medications from Canada for personal use.

The American people should be able to import lower-cost prescription drugs from other countries to save money.

Here are a few more ways to ascertain whether an overseas or online pharmacy is safe:

  • Verify that a prescription is required. Any pharmacy that waives the requirement of a prescription is not to be trusted. So, call and ask if a prescription is needed. If the answer is “no,” don’t use that pharmacy.
  • Look at the pharmacy license. Do not purchase medicines from any pharmacy that does not have a valid pharmaceutical license for the state to which it will sell.
  • Scrutinize the website address. Does it end in “.pharmacy”? Does it have the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS) seal? Both are indicative of legitimate pharmacies.
  • Make sure the pharmacy has a physical address. Most fraudulent online pharmacies conceal their locations. Reputable ones never do.
  • Double-check verification resources. Who funds them? What are the qualifications of those that analyze pharmacies? How are the analyses done? Read the websites thoroughly. Then, look for news stories and other public information about them.
  • Check a few verification sites. Your best bet is to check the pharmacy you want to use on several sites, including PharmacyChecker. If the reports differ, dig deeper.

Why Should I Buy Prescription Drugs From Another Country

Some people may buy prescription drugs from other countries because they want to save money, as prescription drugs can be cheaper in other countries. For example, in Europe, drug prices are negotiated, so the exact same drugs can cost much less than in the United States. In countries with single-payer healthcare, the government can also negotiate lower prices with drug companies

About 2 Million Americans Purchase Prescription Drugs Outside The United States

Yeah that’s right! About 2 million Americans purchase their medications from outside the country. That’s why you and your family need to protect yourselves. and need to be extra cautious when buying medicine online. Some drug websites operate legally and offer convenience, privacy, security and guarantees for purchasing drugs. Not all websites are the same. The United States Food and Drug Administration warns that there are many unscrupulous online pharmacies that claim to sell prescription drugs at exorbitant prices, and with no prescription. Internet-based pharmacies often sell illegal, counterfeit, or dangerous drugs that are not subject to the protection of a licensed pharmacy.

Many unscrupulous online pharmacies use bogus “marketplaces” to impersonate licensed pharmacies or trick you into thinking their drugs come from countries with high safety standards. But the drugs they sell can be done anywhere, with little care or concern for safety and effectiveness. Additionally, these drugs may be counterfeit, expired, or dangerous to you and your family. How do you know if an online pharmacy is operating legally? The FDA’s BeSafeRx page provides resources and tools to help you make safe and informed decisions when purchasing prescription drugs online.

The amount of people purchasing prescription medications outside the U.S. could go up with more people being unemployed and uninsured.

Buying prescription drugs from outside the United States became more common with millions of Americans unemployed and uninsured because of the coronavirus pandemic several years ago.  About two million Americans — 1.5% of adults — purchased medications outside the country to save money on medical costs, according to a study by researchers at the University of Florida published online in JAMA

Researchers found that older adults, immigrants, and people with inadequate health insurance are most likely to turn to online pharmacies or drug stores outside American borders, where medications often cost a fraction of the domestic price. They say the pandemic, which has hit seniors and minorities hard and has financially strained thousands of families, could lead to more people turning to international pharmacies.

Why is it that prescription drugs are cheaper in other countries?

The United States spends some of the lowest amounts of its total healthcare on prescription drugs relative to other developed nations. But Americans also pay some of the highest prices for those drugs, relative to the rest of the world.  In order to pay for a monthly prescription for Nexium, the popular acid reflux drug, an insurer in the United States pays, on average, $215 per customer. Yet the same prescription in the Netherlands costs about one-tenth less, just $23.  In countries where there is single-payer healthcare — in other words where the government pays for most healthcare costs — those governments have significant negotiating power with drug companies to lower prices.

What is the main reason that uninsured citizens of the United States do not have insurance?

Why are people uninsured? Despite policy efforts to improve the affordability of coverage, many uninsured people cite the high cost of insurance as the main reason they lack coverage. In 2022, 64% of uninsured nonelderly adults said that they were uninsured because the cost of coverage was way too high.
